1. What are the benefits of Alumawood™ aluminum patio covers?
Alumawood™ patio covers are constructed of embossed aluminum with a textured wood-grain finish. The structures are built with heavy header beams and a weather-resistant Aluma-Shield?????? paint system with Teflon® additive that withstands sun, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures. Alumawood structures need virtually no maintenance. Unlike real wood, Alumawood™ shade structures won't burn, crack, peel, warp, rot, or attract termites. Using Alumawood™ patio covers is also friendly to the environment because it helps preserve forests. Our Alumawood™ patio covers are also made of recycled aluminum.
Alumawood™ shade structures come in two different styles to suit your needs. If you want added shade but prefer partial sun and refreshing breezes, our Laguna lattice patio cover is the ideal solution. However, our Newport solid roof patio cover provides you and your outdoor furniture with the best protection against the elements. You'll be able to enjoy your outdoor living space even when the weather isn't ideal.

5. What lengths of posts and lattice tubes are available?
Amerimax roll forms all of these components to custom sizes to fit the size of each patio cover.
6. Are the posts and lattice tubes hollow?
Amerimax patio product materials are made of hollow, roll-formed architectural strength aluminum to give the appearance of painted wood while still maintaining the favorable characteristics and strength of light weight aluminum. However, some posts are foam filled for noise reduction and impact resistance.
7. Are Amerimax patio covers and carports structurally engineered?
Yes. Products comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code (refer to ICBO ES evaluation report no. ER-2621P), 2000 & 2003 International Building Code, 2001 California Building Code and the Los Angeles Building Code. For specific questions on wind, snow and live load requirements, contact your local building department.
8. What type of paint coating is applied to your Alumawood™ aluminum shade structures?
Amerimax uses a weather-resistant, anticorrosive Aluma-Shield?????? paint system with Teflon® additive that withstands the harshest conditions, including sun, rain, wind, and extreme temperatures. This paint system was specially formulated for Amerimax by Dupont.
Homeowner FAQs
1. May I purchase a patio cover or other product from Amerimax?
Amerimax does not sell directly to homeowners. As a manufacturer, we sell our patio products primarily to contractors and remodelers. Please click here to view our national network of authorized dealers ready to serve you! If you would like to purchase and install the product yourself, you may contact one of our DIY (Do-It-Yourself) distributors/dealers online or by phone, and they will ship directly to your residence.
2. How does the cost of an Alumawood™ aluminum patio cover compare to that of real wood?
The cost of materials for an Alumawood™ patio cover is comparable to that of a wooden shade structure. However, Alumawood™ patio covers cost less in the long run because you'll never need to scrape, paint, or repair them.
3. In what colors are your patio products and IRP available?
Alumawood™ patio covers are available in six classic colors: White, Desert Sand, Sonora Beige, Mojave Tan, Latte, and Adobe. You may view pictures of our structures in our Alumawood photo gallery as well as in our Alumawood™ brochure. Our traditional aluminum patio covers are available in White or Neutral. Amerimax window awnings come in six colors: White, Cream, Brown, Beige, Royal Blue, and Blue/Gray.

5. What upgrades are available?
Optional upgrades include Aluminum or Fiberglass Columns, Corbel End-Caps, and Scallop End-Caps.
6. Where can I purchase replacement parts for my patio cover?
Please contact the dealer who installed your patio cover in order to obtain any replacement parts.
7. Do you provide a warranty on your patio products?
Yes, we do provide a written lifetime limited warranty for our patio covers and IRP products.
8. How do you clean your patio products?
Amerimax aluminum products are considered a low maintenance product. We manufacture the end product by painting the aluminum ourselves using a state-of-the-art continuous coating process and an extremely anti-corrosive Teflon® paint system (Aluma-Shield??????). We also recommend that you periodically spray down the cover with a water and soap solution to rid the surface of dirt and/or lime build-up. See the Care and Cleaning Instructions found in our patio products lifetime limited warranty.
9. Can your Alumawood™ shade structure be repainted?
While we do not recommend it, you can repaint your Alumawood™ shade structure; however, the proper preparation is critical. Amerimax recommends consulting a professional paint store such as Sherwin-Williams for repainting advice. Our Alumawood™ shade structure is coated with silicone polyester and cured in a paint line oven for a durable finish. Repainting will likely weather and fade quicker than our factory paint. Please know that repainting any part of your Alumawood™ shade structure would void our warranty.
